Thursday, November 18, we went to Pezenas for the festival "The mother fish."

First, we saw a show at the Illustrious Theatre: "Visit poetic."

Then we went to an exhibition to show the pictures of Natalie NOVI. These illustrations (theme of the tree) are in his books.

At noon, we have a picnic at school Jules Vallès.

One possible use of small books

To answer the questions in the comments of the previous article, here is an example of using little books: On the occasion of Mothers Day and Fathers Day.

I used these two poems: "If I " for Mother's Day and "A Dad" for Father's Day. Students read and learned these poems, then they had to produce their "how to ...." I chose these poems because they were easy to reproduce, with their repetitive phrases (I remember I did this with a class CE1).

It is obviously possible to transpose this cycle 3 or for other occasions. For example, this year I think to write to my CM2 a Christmas story as we have worked hard on it during the quarter.

This is a great way to develop writing skills in our classrooms, from CP to CM2!

The "Little Books" were created by the Publishing Célestines , a 1901 law association created in 2007 to support and assist schools in writing activities.

The great advantage of this site is that it can generate a small book of only 7 pages from an A4 sheet!

To make a small book, is simple: students begin by writing a short text on a piece of rough (on the computer or on a sheet of paper). Some pages may be left free to add illustrations. Then print the text on an A4 sheet, be folded following the directions of the site, and we add drawings if desired!

CM2, this is part of the activities available during free time (independently). Output formats should be short, despite this, students take time to write their stories. I propose a sequence based on the tales diverted on different versions of Little Red Riding Hood and Bluebeard, Perrault. I was inspired by a sequence given on the website of the riding of Saint-Martin-d'Hères and have conducted in my classroom with a period of CM2.

Here the complete sequence and its appendices (from Session No. 5). Some documents are to be built in class with students.
